When you live in paradise, its easy to forget that half of the world -- after spending the last few months eagerly wrapped in scarves & down jackets -- is eagerly awaiting spring. The Hotclub of Hulaville promises to usher in the season with swinging, gypsy jazz style at their Manoa Valley Theater (MVT) performance on April 6 & 7 at 7 PM.
The Hotclub of Hulaville -- featuring local favorites Sonny Silva, Emmet Mahoney, Duane Padilla, David Chiorini, & Ginai -- has quickly seduced a growing sea of die-hard fans with their special mix of pre-WWII jazz, "gypsy swing," and Hawaiiana. The up-coming shows will take audiences on a springtime romp through France. As bandleader Sonny sells it, "Stroll along the Seine while spring is blooming -- lovers all around -- and get lured into the little cafe-bistro by Gypsy musicians who, after your very nice wine & crepe, seem to turn up the tempo on you."
As is Hulaville tradition, the evening's festivities start at 5:30 PM with sweet and savory crepes at the MVT courtyard. Tickets are available online at manoavalleytheatre.com and hotclubofhulaville.com. For more info call 808-988-6131.
